Safety Briefing

After conveniently being picked up from my hotel by the Skydive Interlaken van, I headed upstairs to get checked-in. I immediately felt welcomed and at home at the dropzone! I then was introduced to my instructor, who gave me a jumpsuit and harness, he then explained how the whole process would work.

We then practised the free-fall and landing positions on the ground – at this point, it felt real and I already had butterflies in my stomach! But I also felt very relaxed – this was all thanks to the wonderful, professional staff. After getting the parachutes ready, we got into the van for a short but sweet ride through a small village to the helipad.

The Scenic Helicopter Flight

A little bit nervous, but mostly excited I climbed into the spacious helicopter and sat in front of my instructor. With a parachute strapped to our back – this wasn’t just any old helicopter ride, our Skydiving journey was about to begin! The rotors started to spin, and I felt as light as a feather as the helicopter hovered away from the earth.

My eyes were wide open, taking in the vast mountainous landscape, passing gorgeous valleys, towering waterfalls, deep blue alpine lakes, and massive glaciers – the incredible beauty of this scenery completely blew me.

It felt like a lifetime that we were flying around in the heli and I had almost forgotten what we were about to do – until my instructor reminded me it was nearly time.

Standing on the skit

After the instructor put my goggles on and did his last checks, he put his hand out and gave me one last high five before he slid open the door. The feeling of cold air rushed across my body, and I realised – this is it! I was now standing on the skit of a helicopter hovering 14,000ft in the sky, the world looks a lot smaller from up here!

Freefalling

As my feet left the helicopter, I was completely in the moment, my mind had nowhere else to be. I was now freefalling towards the Earth at 200km/h, it’s honestly a feeling like no other and I have no words to describe it! I felt the pressure of the air supporting my body, I looked around and I could see everything, I was completely free!

The Parachute Ride

Suddenly – everything went quiet, I looked up and saw the parachute, the adrenalin is still rushing through my veins and I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face – I did it. At this point, I was completely satisfied and in awe. The parachute ride was relaxing and comfortable. My instructor handed me the toggles and I steered us above Interlaken with the beautiful glistening alpine lakes in the background. As I got closer to the ground I heard all of my friends and family cheering. A nice smooth landing on a grassy field gave me a feeling of absolute relief.

I am so proud of myself for jumping out of a helicopter from 14,000ft over the Swiss Alps, it is an experience that I will never forget and will sit in my heart forever!

When Is the Best Time to Skydive in Interlaken?

Skydiving in Interlaken is one of those life-affirming experiences you never forget—gliding over snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and lush alpine valleys. But when’s the best time to jump?

While you can skydive here all year round, different seasons and times of day bring different conditions—and knowing what to expect can help you pick the perfect moment.

Summer Skydive Tips (June–September)

• Best time of the day to skydive in Interlaken’s summer: Early morning
  Extended daylight hours, clear skies, and vibrant green landscapes make skydiving in Interlaken in the summer a popular choice. But with all that heat and sunshine comes the occasional afternoon thunderstorm, especially in the Alps. Mornings are typically more stable, so aim for an early slot.

Why summer’s amazing:

• Jaw-dropping views of the lakes and mountains
• Warmer air at altitude (nice bonus for tandem jumps!)
• Great for combining with other adventures—paragliding, rafting, or hiking

Winter Skydive Tips (December–March)

• Best time of the day to skydive in Interlaken’s winter: Midday
  Winter brings something magical. Snow-covered peaks, crisp air, and an almost surreal calmness to the skies. It’s quieter, colder, and absolutely stunning. Just keep in mind: fog often lingers in the early mornings, so we recommend booking for late morning or midday, when the sun is highest in the sky.

• Incredible visibility on clear days

• Best time of the day to skydive in Interlaken’s spring: Midday to early afternoon
  Spring in the Swiss Alps is full of contrast—lingering snow on the mountains, bright wildflowers in the valleys, and waterfalls at full strength. The weather can be a little more unpredictable, but clear days are absolutely worth it. From midday and through the afternoon tends to be the sweet spot.

Why spring is beautiful:

• A mix of snow and bloom
• Fewer crowds than summer
• Waterfalls and rivers at their peak flow

Autumn Skydive Tips (October–November)

• Best time of the day to skydive in Interlaken’s autumn: Midday
  Autumn doesn’t get enough credit—it’s peaceful, colorful, and often overlooked. The forests around Interlaken glow in rich golds and reds, and the air tends to be stable and calm, especially in October. As with spring, the middle of the day usually brings the best conditions.

• Autumn offers one of the best chances to enjoy peaceful skies and unique views—without the chill of Interlaken in winter

• In summer: Book early in the day to beat potential thunderstorms.
• In winter: Go for midday, once the fog has cleared and the sun’s up.
• In spring and autumn: From midday is your best window for clear skies and great light.

Hike Schynige Platte to First

If you’re after a day’s adventure then this is one of the most beautiful hikes we can think of. Hiking from Schynige Platte to First is a 6-hour day trip that starts by taking the train from Interlaken up to the summit of Schynige Platte and ends at Grindelwald-First aerial cableway summit station. Helicopter Skydiving

What better way to see Interlaken and the Swiss Alps than from above in a helicopter, then get your adrenalin fix at the same time by jumping out! The feeling of jumping out of a helicopter and freefalling through the sky is like no other and will leave you feeling speechless and accomplished. This activity will be one to remember, a real once-in-a-lifetime experience! Tandem Paragliding with Paragliding Interlaken

Experience the mountains and valleys from a bird’s eye view and enjoy the landscape in the middle of the uniquely beautiful Jungfrau region before you gently touch down on the landing meadow in the middle of Interlaken. PGI will take our bus from Interlaken to Beatenberg Amisbühl in around 20 minutes. High above Interlaken, you can enjoy the uniquely beautiful view of the Jungfrau massif.
